In the early 20th century, the Dutch colonised the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. But did they really leave? In 1950, the first petrol-powered ferry was introduced on Sulawesi, replacing the traditional wooden sailing ferries that had been plying the waters for centuries. This meant that local fishermen could finally take a break from rowing and enjoy the ride! And who knows, maybe they even got to admire the stunning Togean Islands, an archipelago of 200 islands stretching across the Sulawesi Sea.
